Volume Methodology

Every volume figure on TickerTracker is face value: contracts traded, with each contract counted at its full payout, in dollars. This page sets out where each platform’s daily figure comes from and which platforms the combined total sums.

What Volume Means

A trade of 100 contracts at 63¢, each paying $1 if it wins, produces three different numbers.

Three measures of one trade: 100 contracts at 63 cents
MeasureWhat it countsThis trade
Contracts tradedHow many contracts changed hands100
VolumeEvery contract at its full payout, in dollars (face value)$100
Cash tradedWhat the buyer paid: contracts × price$63

TickerTracker reports volume. It is price-independent, and it is what Kalshi and Polymarket display. Notional value is a technical synonym for face value.

volume = Σ (contracts traded × payout per contract)

When a contract pays $1, volume and contracts traded are the same number. Where a contract pays a different amount, as on some CDNA contracts, volume uses the measured payout.

Kalshi

In combined total

Source

Kalshi’s published daily market-data export, one file per trading day.

Trading day

04:00 UTC to 04:00 UTC, the day covered by Kalshi’s daily export.

What counts

Every contract traded that day, including fractional contracts (Kalshi’s minimum is 0.01 of a contract). Each contract pays $1, so contracts traded and volume are the same number.

Completeness

Daily figures and totals use imported days only. The current day joins them once its export is imported.

Polymarket US

In combined total

Source

The daily market report CSV that Polymarket US publishes for each business date.

Trading day

The Business Date on the report.

What counts

The report’s Trade Volume for every contract, summed with fractional contracts kept.

Rothera

In combined total

Source

Rothera’s end-of-day market report CSV, one file per trading day, from Rothera’s public file server.

Trading day

The date of the report file.

What counts

The report’s volume for every contract, in whole contracts, each counted at $1. A settlement-weighted figure (contracts × settlement price) is stored separately; volume uses the contract count.

The daily market report CSV listed in DKeX’s (Railbird Exchange) public daily-market report manifest. DKeX also publishes daily settlement and time-and-sales reports.

Trading day

The date of the report.

What counts

The report’s trade volume for every contract, in whole contracts, each counted at $1. A settlement-weighted figure (contracts × settlement price) is stored separately; volume uses the contract count.

Underdog Exchange’s public daily reports: a market-data file and a trade-data file for each date, listed in a public manifest.

Trading day

Novig

In combined total

Source

Novig’s public data feed: a trades CSV and a markets CSV for each date, published shortly after midnight US Eastern. A day that fails Novig’s own validation is withheld from publication.

Trading day

Midnight to midnight, US Eastern.

What counts

The taker side of every trade, so each trade counts once, with fractional contracts kept and each contract counted at $1. Wash trades are excluded from Novig’s published volume.

Completeness

Novig publishes the day’s volume three ways: taker quantity in the trades file, cost across both sides of every trade, and daily volume in the markets file. A date is imported only when all three agree exactly.

CDNA

In combined total

Source

The daily bulletin that Crypto.com | Derivatives North America (formerly Nadex) publishes as a CFTC-required disclosure, released the next business day. Both its Summary and Detail sections are read.

Trading day

The trade date on the bulletin.

What counts

Contracts traded × payout per contract. The payout is measured from settlements, using that day’s where available and nearby days otherwise. Event contracts pay $1, financial binaries paid $10 in January 2026 and $1 by September 2026, and knock-out contracts pay other amounts.

Completeness

A day enters the totals only when a measured payout exists for every contract traded that day.

ProphetX

In combined total

Source

ProphetX’s publicly disclosed daily bulletin CSV, one file per date, available the following morning.

Trading day

The date on the bulletin.

What counts

The volume ProphetX reports for each contract. ProphetX publishes it as a dollar figure; every ProphetX contract pays $1, so that figure equals contracts traded at face value.

Basis

Face value, the same basis as every other platform here, and included in the combined total.

Combined Total

The combined prediction market volume sums Kalshi, Polymarket US, Rothera, DKeX, Underdog Exchange, Novig, CDNA and ProphetX: 8 platforms measured on the same face-value basis. Each platform contributes its own published days, and each platform’s windows (yesterday, 7 days, 30 days, year to date, all-time) end on that platform’s latest published day. A platform’s unpublished days are left out of the sum rather than counted as zero.

Polymarket joins the combined total once our on-chain volume source is live.
