Volume

Volume is the face value of the contracts traded over a period, in dollars: every contract is counted at its full $1 payout, regardless of the price it actually traded at. This is the figure behind every dollar amount on TickerTracker and the standard prediction-market convention. It measures how much market changed hands — activity and scale — not how much cash moved, which is always smaller (contracts × price) and depends on the odds. It is often called "trading volume." Volume is cumulative: once a contract has traded it counts forever, so the number only goes up. Not to be confused with open interest, which is what is currently held open.
