Restricted jurisdiction
A restricted jurisdiction is a state or other location where a prediction-market platform does not offer some or all of its contracts, typically because of a court order, a state law or the platform's own compliance decision. Platforms enforce these limits by geolocating users, a practice often called geofencing. Restrictions are frequently partial: a 2026 Washington state injunction against Kalshi bars sports, election and entertainment contracts while sparing commodities, economics and finance contracts. Because these orders change often, TickerTracker tracks them state by state on its legality map.
